A day's Fly fishing on Mossley Dam.

After several years of negotiations between Newtownabbey Borough Council and Three Mile Water, Conservation & Angling Association
we finally agreed to develop Mossley Dam as a Brown Trout Fishery (Put and Take). Funding from BIFFA is now in place and work will commence on the Dam on November 2010, angling will commence on March 2011.
Stocking Of Dam In August 2008 400 Brown Trout were put into Mossley Dam,and in June 2009 a further 200, paid by Three Mile Water, Conservation & Angling Association, and N.B.C
Surveys will be carried out from now until October 2010. 600 Brown Trout are to be stocked back into the dam over the next few months.

December 1st, 2010 Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council with Antrim as the lead council have been awarded funding from GROW South Antrim Generating Rural, Opportunities within South Antrim through Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme to hold A South Antrim Fishing Festival in May 2011.

In May 2010 with permission from Newtownabbey Borough Council 3 club members from Three Mile Water, Angling Association carried out a catch & release survey using barbless hooks. The survey was carried out to see the condition the stocked fish where in. In 90 minutes the anglers caught approximately 20 Brown Trout between 2 & 6lb, all fish were in excellent condition and were safely returned.
